The Grand Idea
A creative-first social networking platform built for and around the work. A space to showcase one's finest, discover others, and build meaningful connections beyond the traditional. By creatives, with love, for creatives. Welcome to your creative networking era.

Strategy & Design
Creativity Makes Sense
Every great idea deserves an equally great home. Yours and ours. For Sense, it means a digital experience where creative work always comes first. From doodles to prototype, that vision comes to life in a product that balances portfolios, discovery, and connection into something so unmistakably creative and unapologetically personal. Because if you're building for creatives, the whole thing should probably be creative, too.

Macrodata
Refinement
Creative work today is a little all over the place. Portfolios may live on one platform, and conversations on another, but opportunities are often someplace else entirely. That's annoying. And so, we had to ask, "What if the work finally had a place to call home, somewhere built around creativity and nothing else?"
Design, to me, has never been about making things pretty for pretty's sake (albeit I'd very much like it to be pretty). Throughout Sense's initial development, I drew heavily from an industry lecture with former AKQA Industrial & Creative Director Giles Day, who introduced me to his design philosophy through three deceptively simple ideas: Think-Do-Debate, Think-Do-Talk, and Think-Do-Listen. Build something. Put it in front of people. Maybe don't get too attached to that first idea. Get cooked. Repeat. Turns out, good design is wonderfully humbling.
I still remember staying after to ask Giles about Apple's (infamous?) Magic Mouse. Well, if you know the Magic Mouse, there's a good chance you think it's one of the most ergonomically and practically questionable pieces of tech ever made. But for Giles, those icks didn't really matter. The mouse, he told me, was just so, so beautiful.
Funny enough, that discussion reminded me of when Google launched Material You in 2021, where then-VP of Material Design Matías Duarte posed a question that has somehow stuck with me since:
"What if form didn't just follow function, but also followed feeling?"
Back to Figma.

Branding & Marketing
Creatives Make Sense
Brands are funny things. What makes Sense? Creativity. Who makes Sense? Creatives. Which department? Every single one. There's your blueprint for a campaign. Flexible, memorable, exceptionally scalable, and most importantly, it puts creatives at the centre of the conversation. Because they're what Sense is really about, the people we hope will call it home.
Watch the Pitch

Graphic design by Eric Zhang. Eric scaled the #MakeSense concept into a fully fledged marketing and advertising campaign, while also leading the design of our brand identity, logo, and keynote presentation.

Collaborating & Learning
Making Sense
Trying to make sense of Sense turned out to be every bit as fun as we'd hoped. Somewhere between whiteboards, Figma files, Demo Day rehearsals, and far too many meetings that, as expected, ran far longer than planned, we built something none of us could've made alone. Funny how that worked.
Trust the Process
The best teams don't ask everyone to do everything. I've kept saying this, even in a guest lecture on creative entrepreneurship (how cool was that?), but we trusted the team to bring our personal craft to the table. Like, "you have one job," but we took it seriously.
Leaning into our unique strengths, we could go deeper, grander, and more professional, while the constant conversations, feedback, and reality check kept us moving in the same direction. Not to separate ourselves, but to give everyone the space to do what they do best. That's the most sensible way to do it.

Sense Is in Active Development
We'll sue if we have to. If the idea appeals to you and you'd like to support us, become a part of Sense, or have a chat with the team, don't hesitate to reach out to me, Syukii, or Eric. We loved building Sense in prototype, and we can't wait to see it come to life.
Achievements
"Your work with the branding team was impressive. The visual app design, from a form and function perspective, was very confidently presented and gave a very good look and feel of the working prototype."

Senior Lecturer @ Macquarie Uni
Faculty of Arts Highest Achiever in Unit Award for Creative Entrepreneurship
